Magical Girl (2023)
This project was created as part of my ZBrush character class, and was my first time using the program. Modeling and UVs were done in ZBrush, with a little UV touchup in Maya, and texturing was done in Substance Painter. For the final renders, I used Marmoset Toolbag 4. I had a lot of fun turning this from concept to a reality and experimenting with an anime figure style in 3D.
Nana's Glasses (2023)
Nana's Glasses was a project I created for my Visual Effects class focused on texturing and materials. For this assignment, I took inspiration from the popular manga Nana to create a vignette. The story of Nana focuses on themes of abandonment, change, and growing apart, so I thought it would be a perfect fit for a project that incorporates aging materials. For this project, I used a variety of programs; mostly Maya, ZBrush, and Substance Painter, but also Illustrator and Procreate here and there.
Candy Queendom (2022)
Candy Queendom is a project made for my Game Art class using Maya, Unreal Engine, and Substance Painter. The project was composed of three elements; a large structure, modular building, and environment. Throughout the course of this project I learned a lot about Unreal Engine as well as what goes into the process of creating a game environment with a certain polygon budget and PBR materials.
The Fruit Cup (2023)
Another project for my Visual Effects materials course; the goal of The Fruit Cup was to create realistic fruit in both a new and rotten state. This was one of my most challenging projects, but I learned a lot from it and am proud of the results! For this project, I used a variety of programs; mostly Maya, ZBrush, and Substance Painter, but also Illustrator and Procreate here and there.
Patches - When We Sleep (2022)
This is a character model I created in Maya of Patches, a carnival cat, from my upcoming senior film “When We Sleep”. I had a blast bringing this guy to life and working through different problem solving approaches when it came to details like the ruffles, etc. Original design by Christine Quezada.
Original design by Christine Quezada, colors by me.
The Little Room (2022)
The Little Room is an environment I created in Maya inspired by media like The Borrowers, The Secret World of Arietty, and my love of dollhouses. For this project, I modeled, textured, and lit the room and everything in it.
Rigging Experience (2023)
During my time at college I took an introductory rigging class. While it's not something I'm passionate about, I wanted to understand some basics of rigging to help inform my character designing and modeling. I learned how to make and operate a basic rig, and learned about IK and FK joints, pull vectors, weight painting, making and naming controls, and more. This class was a hard one for me- rigging did not come as naturally as modeling for sure! But I'm very glad I took it because these concepts have shaped my understanding of 3D as a medium.
